ADD, ADHD and Executive Functioning Tip…Back-to-School

With school right around the corner, it is an excellent time to start preparing your school-aged child with ADD, ADHD and Executive Functioning concerns for school. On top of the obvious things like purchasing school supplies and books, I would consider the idea of introducing your child to the building and helping her or she get familiar with the school. If he or she walks to school, walk the route a few times. Obviously you cannot have the bus take your child, but I would drive your child to school and allow he or she to get used to the route.

Making things familiar is a key to a good transition. Going back to school should be easier if your child can prepare mentally and physically to the change.
