I’m a very collaborative person. I enjoying working with and learning from others both personally and professionally. When I was invited to an open house at the Attention Center outside of Cleveland, it was an exciting opportunity. It’s a new full-service treatment center for ADD and ADHD. One of the pioneers of ADHD treatment and understanding Dr. Edward Hallowell is an advisor to the center and was in attendance as well.
I had the chance to talk with so many wonderful people. The general sense from everyone in attendance was relief and hope. The Attention Center offers support through a variety of channels including dietary, acupuncture, speech, social/emotional and educationally. Each client is given a treatment plan based on his or her needs. It’s not a one-size-fits-all treatment plan that is way too often employed; this is an opportunity for individualized care. It is something we’ve needed in the treatment of ADD and ADHD for far too long.
I want to thank the Zipon family for both their invitation and initiative with the center. They’re paving the way for better and more comprehensive treatments. Hopefully this model will be coming to a city close to you soon.
